An Unsilenced Survivor Story
"I remember laying there and looking at the ceiling until I knew I was safe on the ceiling too."
My mother stood in the hallway and watched through a viewing room. I remember laying there and looking at the ceiling until I knew I was safe on the ceiling too. My mother never spoke to me about the procedure before or after the event. Once on the phone I heard her tell someone she felt better knowing it was the same size catheder they used for babies. It hadn't made me feel any less ashamed or in pain.
