I had my first VCUG done a lot later than expected, around 12 years old I believe. I hated it so much. My mom called me dramatic and the doctors said it was a completely normal procedure and I shouldn’t be so upset. I had that test repeated twice a year for three years as I was going through a sensitive time in my life where I was growing and changing and being exposed like that with doctors was extremely difficult, stressful, and traumatic. Thanks to my therapist I’ve learned to better advocate for my feelings in the doctors office, but there is no way to undo what is already done.
