Group Rules

This forum is for former VCUG patients.

This group is specifically for former patients of VCUGs and similar pediatric procedures. If you're a VCUG parent or ally, please visit our other forums to ensure you're posting in the approriate channel and avoid triggering our community members who experienced this test firsthand. Thank you for respecting the safety and privacy of our community.

Be respectful.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, bigotry, and harassment. Please respect our community.

No spam or soliciting.

This community is focused on support and healing after VCUG trauma. Please ensure all posts/comments are relevant to this. No spam or soliciting.

No defending VCUGs.

This sub is for former patients who were traumatized by the VCUG procedure. Any pro-VCUG language, including supporting or playing "devil's advocate," will not be tolerated out of respect for our survivors. If you wish to promote VCUGs, you can do so anywhere else on the internet.

Please include trigger warnings ("TW") for graphic content.

Any posts containing graphic details of the VCUG procedure or other potentially triggering material needs a trigger warning ("TW").

Do not solicit medical advice.

Under the law, we CANNOT give any medical or legal advice. Please refrain from inquiring about medical or legal decision-making. Note: This does not apply to relevant questions regarding others' lived experiences. Example of an APPROPRIATE question: "I'm hoping to start therapy soon. What are your experiences with EMDR?" Example of an INAPPROPRIATE question: "Daughter has a clear indication for this test. Can I avoid?"

Please take responsibility for your own healing.

We do NOT support messaging that puts personal responsibility on others for your healing. Examples include repeatedly pressuring survivors to respond to posts, posting the same question repeatedly in different forums, or dominating threads with recurring topics. Remember, the only person responsible for your health and safety is you. Please be mindful and respect others' boundaries and lived experiences.

We are not a replacement for professional health services.

Our forums are NOT a substitute for professional health services. We work hard to maintain a safe and private space for former patients to connect and heal with likeminded individuals in a moderated setting. We encourage survivors to seek professional care as needed to prioritize their health. Recurring issues that repeatedly come up in group should be addressed with a licensed professional, and not fellow survivors.
