After years of dealing with mental illness and having symptoms similar to those of CSA victims, I finally realized how traumatic the VCUG procedure was. When I was 15 months old I was having chronic UTIs and my ureters had to be reimplanted. I had one at that time and then once again when I was around 10 years old. I don’t remember the first one but hearing stories from the Unsilenced Movement I recalled the one I had when I was a pre-teen. That was truly the worst pain I had ever experienced. I don’t remember much but I remember the pain of having to pee and not being able to and the embarrassment of being so vulnerable in from of a doctor and three nurses. Wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.
